Oaks Training & Development Ltd has been involved in delivering Scottish Modern Apprenticeships in a variety of disciplines since we began in business. They are part of the governments National Training Programmes and aim to allow people to develop their skills and careers. We are contracted by and work in close partnership with Skills Development Scotland to ensure that the very best training is delivered to people undertaking a Modern Apprenticeship.
An additional benefit to learners and employers is that all of the Modern Apprenticeships we offer are FULLY FUNDED.
Skills Development Scotland (SDS) has launched its new online web service My World of Work. The service aims to help people plan, build and direct their career throughout their lives. Anyone funded by SDS for training requires to be registered on this site.

Q. What are Modern Apprenticeships?
Modern Apprenticeships are industry recognised qualifications for existing employees over the age of 16. Learners work towards the qualification at work based on the job that they do. They are FREE and in some cases there are incentives available to employers towards the recruitment and training costs of new employees.
Q. How can they benefit my business?
In today’s difficult economic climate your workforce could be your key asset. Highly trained and motivated employees can give your business the competitive edge.
Q. Are these qualifications relevant?
We will deliver the right qualifications for you or your employees. You will be fully involved in making sure that the Modern Apprenticeship is tailored to your company and sector ensuring that you and the employee get what they need out of it.
Q. What’s the catch?
There really isn’t one. The only commitment required by you as an employer is to allow the learner to set aside some time for training and review sessions with their assessor. On average this means 1 to 2 hours per week, collecting evidence for their portfolio. A Modern Apprenticeship can be completed within a timescale that is suitable to you and the employee. We will be there to support the learner at every stage and to answer any questions you or they may have.
Information For Learners
Q. How do I complete my training and work at the same time?
We understand that undertaking a new qualification while working can be a daunting experience and you might not be entirely be sure that you will be able to complete the course but we can assure you that we will be on hand at any time to help support you in your apprenticeship and answer any questions you may have. You do have to be committed to the scheme and ensure that you manage your time effectively in order to gather the necessary evidence for your portfolio but again we will guide you through the process and help with any difficulties. The Modern Apprenticeship allows you to choose which units are most pertinent to your job.
Q. What if I don’t have the right qualifications?
A concern for many learners is that their qualifications gained from school or college may not be enough for them to complete a Modern Apprenticeship. Oaks Training & Development Ltd delivers a full programme of Core Skills that you can complete in order to meet the required standards for your Modern Apprenticeship. You may find that you have skills through work that meet the criteria required and therefore need only formal accreditation. However we have a lot of experience working with learners on their Core Skills and can help you fill the gaps as and when required.
